We tried another brand, but it didn't work well. The inside part of the burner stayed on high no matter what setting was on. The outside part didn't work at all. In addition, the other brand only had four circles instead of five, like the Smart Choice. The Smart Choice burner fit and worked perfectly. I'm glad I spent the extra money for this one and recommend it for anyone.
