For those who might be a little confused, there are two versions of The Essential Electric Light Orchestra. One was a single disc released in 2003 while a two cd version was released in 2011. The Import version of the 2011 has a slightly different cover. The songs picked are good ones but but some are single edits and I have to wonder how many ELO "hits" packages we need? Both All Over the World: The Very Best of Electric Light Orchestra [ORIGINAL RECORDING REMASTERED] and Very Best of Electric Light Orchestra 2 were released only a couple of years before this and with Afterglow, Strange Magic: The Best of Electric Light Orchestra and Flashback already out there (not to mention rip off comps like Burning Bright, ELO Classics and Playlist Plus). The artwork isn't all that great and many are the single edits even though there's leftover room on the disc. There are zero rarities like Matter Of Fact and Buildings Have Eyes. The only plus that this one offers is that I'm Alive and Don't Walk Away from Xanadu are included here. If you're interested in an ELO hits package Strange Magic, All Over The World and Ticket To The Moon are recommended over this.
